Ugliest Dog named Abby! - 6/28/2010 11:32AM

A Chihuahua's oddly curved back and legs and closed-up left eye earned the 4-year-old rescue dog top honors at the World's Ugliest Dog contest at a Northern California fair on Friday. "Princess Abby" (yes, that's its name!) shivered in the cool breeze after her win Friday night while nestled in the arms of her owner, Kathleen Francis, who received a $1,000 check at the 22nd annual contest held at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma. Celebrity vet Karen "Doc" Halligan says the Chihuahua's problematic back, legs and eye may be due to being inbred."She's a poster child to spay and neuter your pets," she said.
Iams Cat Food Recall - 6/14/2010 9:37AM
The product recalled is Iams ProAcive Health Cat and Kitten Food. Because the product does not contain the proper amount of thiamine, it is being recalled by Procter & Gamble. The cat and kitten food that is being recalled was sold nationwide. It is in 3 ounce and 5.5 ounce cans.

The Iams ProActive Health Cat and Kitten Food cans will have a date on the bottom of the cans ranging from September 2011 through June 2012.

As cats need the correct amount of thiamine in their food to be healthy, they may have symptoms when eating a food that does not contain enough. These symptoms may include vomiting and weight loss, a loss of appetite or salivation. Some cats or kittens may not have all symptoms. When a cat or kitten has been eating food that does not contain enough thiamine for a long period of time, other symptoms may occur. These can include a wobbly gait, falling, and seizures.

If a pet owner thinks their cat or kitten has a thiamine deficiency or any other health issue, a visit to the veterinarian is suggested.

Pet owners with recalled products may arrange for a refund. Procter & Gamble has someone available from 9 AM until 7 PM at the following number: 877-340-8826

This is a very important health issue for cats and kittens. For complete details about the Iams cat and kitten food recall, please use the links below.

The best person to compare me to, would be Bridget Jones. I am entertaining, caring, have an adventurous love life, fun loving and huge klutz. I grew up in the Twin Cities in a very small family- aka only child with no cousins! What got me into radio you ask? Growing up my parents had a tape recorder that they used to make tapes for my grandparents who lived in Michigan. One day when I was two, I grabbed the microphone and started saying “hi mommy, hi daddy” and then started to sing a Muppets tune. Then when I was 8 years old I made a mixed tape for my mom for her birthday. It had a variety of her favorite oldie songs on it and every couple of songs I would tell her that I loved her and introduce the next artist. My mom and I listen to that tape every couple of years and roll on the ground laughing because I couldn’t pronounce any of the musician’s names correctly. Instead of Elvis Presley, I would say Elvis Preeeeeselly. In high school every one kept asking me what I wanted to do when I grew up and I just said the first thing that came to my mind…”I want to be famous someday”. So here I am now in radio. I’ve been in radio over 10 years which included various markets; the Twin Cities, St. Cloud, Duluth and Rapid City, South Dakota. I did leave radio for two years to work for the University of Minnesota and pursue my MBA. In my spare time, I love shopping, working out, hanging out at coffee shops, reading, volleyball, dancing, snowmobiling, driving fast cars and watching a romantic comedy on TV. You will probably hear me talk about my fiancé and planning a wedding. I met my future husband on a bridge in Duluth, one very cold winter on the way to a hockey game. My fiancé, Shawn, is originally from Redwood Falls and currently works at Sears in the Kandi mall. We are planning to be married July 2010! It’s great to be in Willmar and I hope you have a chance to listen to my show.
