(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota's greatest high school sports spectacle gets underway this morning when Mahtomedi takes on Breck in the first game of the 66th annual boy's hockey state tournament. The Zephyrs and Cardinals face off at 11 a-m at the Xcel Energy Center, with the winner headed to the Class One-A semifinals against either Hermantown or Virginia/Mountain Iron-Burhl. The evening session of the small-school tournament is defending champion Breck versus New Ulm and Warroad taking on Rochester Lourdes. The Class Two-A state tournament quarterfinals are tomorrow in downtown Saint Paul.
